Advanced Joint Operations Center (JOC) Seminar:
The purpose of this course is to provide advanced JOC training to personnel who will work in the JOC in any capacity; who will be supporting the JOC from a JTF; or who will be a Liaison Officer (LNO) to the State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), County EOC, JOC, JTF, EMAC State, or Mission Partner.
At a minimum the objective of the course will be to:
- Review the JOC Mission and experientially based best practices for the successful accomplishment of the JOC “Core Competences” of Information Management, Situational Awareness, Mission Management and Historical Documentation.
- Understand JOC Staffing requirements, duties, responsibilities and roles including where and how the JOC Staff may best integrate within the JFHQs/JTF-State Battle Staff construct to achieve maximum coordination, effectiveness and synergy.
- Understand the role and practical application of multiple collaborative technologies available to the JOC for information sharing and Common Operating Picture (COP) management including but not limited to: Joint Information Exchange Environment, (JIEE), Defense Connect Online (DCO), Jabber IM and ARC/GIS explorer as well as common State Emergency Management web based applications.
- Gain an understanding of the essential elements of the JOC Battle Rhythm through discussion, development and practical application of key Battle Rhythm activities /components including: Shift Change Briefs (BUB/CUB), Conference and Video Teleconference Calls, Planning Meetings, CCIR management, reporting, report publication and distribution and other routine actions, activities and products essential to effective JOC operations.
